I have traveled over thousand and five hundred kilometers in the west coast of Greenland by small plane, helicopter, cargo ship, oil tanker, sailboat, small fishing boat and dogsled. Along the way I have spent time in small settlements and joined overnight hunting expeditions, attended dogsled competitions, swam among the icebergs and learned few words of the local language Greenlandic. I have made ten excursions to Greenland and spent there from a month to two during each journey.<\/p>\n

AVANNAA-BOOK<\/h2>\n

Avannaa is a selection of Itkonen\u00b4s photographs of Greenland\u00b4s landscape in 2002\u20132010. German publisher Kehrer Verlag has agreed to publish the book in autumn 2014 and it will be introduced in Frankfurt Book Fair and in Paris Photo.<\/p>\n

FUNDING<\/h2>\n

Because of today’s publishing climate, photographers are actively self-funding their projects that might otherwise never see the light of day. The total budget for this book exceeds 20 000 \u20ac. The goal for crowd funding is 6000\u20ac. The remaining portion is funded by the grants and artist.<\/p>\n
